In the early 70's the Flamingo was owned by the Guzzardo family, owners of Guzzardo Meats. It was called the Flamingo Hall and was the site of high school reunions, wedding receptions and other parties. My wife and I were married in February, 1972 down the street at St. Jude and our reception was at the Flamingo Hall. Don't remember a whole lot about the inside of the hall, but I do recall the food was excellent and the marriage still exists.
Did a Google search, found a site I think was called DetroitYES that had a blog of the 7 Mile/Gratiot area and had a few mentions and a lot of info of the area. I uploaded a copy of a Flamingo Hall ad and will submit it under separate cover. Unfortunately I have no exterior photos of the theater/hall that I can find and all my photos of the interior are people photos, with little detail of the building.
