The 100 unit Cadillac House goes back to 1959 at least. It was designed by Sanford Rossen and built by the Taubman Company. One of the investors was Asher N. Tilchin, who was also involved in the Cranbrook House, Port Huron Motor Inn, and Birmingham House. Their company was known as Tilchin-Aaron.
The Cadillac housed a lounge that featured acts like Phil Gaberman and others. There was also the Cork and Embers Room which was used for banquets. In 1974, American Natural Gas purchased the Guardian Building and the motel. I found an ad from 1974 announcing the liquidation and sale of the furnishings. Not long after that, the building was razed to make way for the First Street Garage parking lot.
