This store was opened by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lenox and Mr. and Mrs. George Pah. In 1974, Grace Wallace and Margaret Perkins took over. The idea was to set the place up like an old-time country store. The fixtures came from such a store in Perry, MI. The store had a section set up like a Post Office which was a feature of many of these old stores.
There was an elaborate doll house on display and the store sold accessories for customers to furnish their own doll house. There were also doll kits and a chair caning service. Hand-made Christmas ornaments were on offer as well as penny candy. This place was basically and old-timey hobby store furnished with antiques. Toys, candles, glassware and especially the doll stuff!
As to what became of the place, it was razed sometime before 2008. It was across the street from Wilson Marine which is on Lake Chemung. The Brighton of old is not what we see today.
