This motel goes back to the 1950's or before per an article I found on a robbery in 1956. The original proprietor was Russel E Teetzel. By 1961 the place changed hands to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Penno and was renamed to the Penno Motel. The original owner passed away in 1967. By 2005, the old structure seems to be gone according to the historical aerial photos. it seems it is now an empty lot on the southeast corner of Lapeer Rd and 32nd St.
