Livingston County: Isaac Parshall entered 400 acres of land here in present Hartland Township in 1834, but he did not actually settle and become the founder of the village until 1837. Jacob S. Griswold became the first postmaster on May I l, 1857, the office operating until Dec. 15, 1905. [Ellis; PO Archives]
