The Sun opened in 1935. I found several articles on the theater which I will summarize in this timeline:

• 1944 - Held event to sell war bonds, proceeds were $36,379.
• 1945 - Expanded by Getman Bros. Construction.
• 1947 - Remodeled by Superior Builders to add glass brick. A new electric popcorn machine was also installed.
• 1949 - Theater sold by Gus Elsner to his brother John who had previously operated the Berry Theater in Berrien Springs. It is noted the Elsner's also operate the Starlite Drive-In in Benton Harbor.
• 1952 - Theater destroyed by fire in March. The theater was insured.
