The old Hotel Berdel was right on Higgins Lake and it goes back to the 1940's or before. It was a resort hotel that featured a beach, swimming raft, guest rooms, and a dining hall. By the 1960's, it was falling into disrepair and the property was sold to make way for Lake Shore East Condominiums. According to Google Maps, that complex is also closed as of 2022 but the buildings are still present.
