This motel goes back to 1953 and was run by Ray and June Dowling. One charming thing I found was a photo of a postcard from June writing to the Price is Right TV Show with her estimate of the Home Showcase. It can be viewed below.
I am about 80% sure of the address on this one. The shape of the building on the 1968 aerial is close to what is seen on the vintage postcard. I also have identified most of the other motels along that stretch of road so that helps narrow it down. The general location as described on the postcard is about right as well. Until I find out differently, I will go with 4175 N Clare (US-27).
The latest street view photo online is from 2008 and it seems to indicate part of the old motel structure still stands, although one wing has been removed. It actually started out as a smaller building in the 1950's. There was also another business using the site called Clare County Transit. I will check around when I go up there again and try to confirm my assumptions.
