My father worked for the Quinnesec drive-in theatre and Iron Mountain Braumart for years. He started there as a teen in the late 1960's. In the early 1980's, As a little girl I spent many days and hours helping him clean the lot picking up trash tossed from the cars. I loved helping him paint the playground located right beneath the big screen. I remember swings and teeter totter.

I loved being there, outside running around with my Dad. The best part was my Dad letting us go into the concession stand and have a glass of swamp water from the fountain. ( a mix of every kind of soda they had) I was heart broken when they stopped showing movies. This magical place, so full of freedom as a child with always be with me! I wish I had photos from the time I spent there. Kids don't know what they are missing today! To be able to watch one of the Twilight series movies on the big screen, in the moonlight, would be a real treat!

I have been by this site a couple times in the past year and there is a new theatre there but it's now an indoor theatre and it has kept the same name as the old drive in. I will try to get some pics if i can so everyone can see them.

I am sorry to report to you that the screen to this drive-in was blown down by a tornado about a month ago. We had heard that the property was bought by an indoor chain of movie theaters. We had also heard that they were going to use the drive-in, but that may well have changed now. It looks like the snack bar is still intact. What a sad ending.

The Tri-City Drive in is now an empty lot.
